Friday, December 14th was a day none of us are bound to forget anytime soon, though I'm sure most of us would like to. I won't go into the details here because it's too hard to write out in words. Besides, I don't know anyone who lives that far under a rock to have not learned of what happened in Newtown, Connecticut.
But with all the bad that happens in this world, there always comes even more that's good. Some really wonderful people from my hometown have organized a group called Sandy's Helpers, to contribute toward the main Sandy Hook Elementary School Victim's Relief Fund, created by a former Sandy Hook student. The donations are to go toward counseling for the surviving students, teachers, staff, and families; a scholarship fund for students of Sandy Hook Elementary; and sadly, funeral costs for the affected families.
Donations through the site can start at $10 - please give what you can. Any little bit is sure to help the people of Newtown, Connecticut. Click here to visit the Sandy's Helpers page.
If you don't do online donations, checks can be mailed to:
SandyHook School Support Fund c/o Newtown Savings Bank
39 Main St
Newtown, CT 06470
If you'd like to send cards and/or gifts to the school, you can do so at the following address:
